Mindling
What Mindling holds, why it holds it, and the choices you have about it.
Last updated October 2026
Mindling is a notes app. You capture notes, structure them into sections, and the app brings them back to you when they are worth another look. This policy explains what we hold as a result, and what we do with it.
Your account: your name, your email address, and how you sign in. We never see or store your password.
Your work: the notes themselves — titles, sections and key points, body text, subject, tags, status, colour, whether a note is pinned, archived or in the trash — plus the study packs you generate, your review history (when you reviewed a note, how many times, and how you answered), and the dates Mindling has scheduled to bring a note back.
Your settings: the workspace name you choose, and which plan your account is on.
When you record a lecture or upload an audio file, that file is stored privately and is readable only by you. It is sent to a transcription service to produce the transcript, and the transcript becomes the text of the note.
Recordings stay in your library until you remove them. Deleting the note they became does not delete the audio on its own.
Microphone: only when you start a recording, and only while it runs. Mindling does not listen at any other time, and never records in the background.
Files: when you choose an existing audio file to upload, you pick it yourself through your device's file picker.
The iOS and Android builds of Mindling declare these permissions with a plain-language reason, so your device can show you what is being asked for before you allow it.
Connecting a calendar is optional and personal: you sign in with your own Google account, and the connection belongs to you alone. Mindling creates calendar events for the reviews you have scheduled, and reads back the events Mindling itself has created so it does not duplicate them.
You can disconnect at any time from Settings. Events already written to your calendar are yours to keep or delete.
Transcribing a recording, generating a study pack, auto-structuring a note and searching your notes by meaning all send the text needed for that result to an AI service, which returns it. Only the content required for the feature you asked for is sent.
AI output can be wrong or incomplete. It is there to help you study, not to be relied on as a record of what was actually said.
Mindling Pro and the recording top-ups are bought on the web, through Base44 Payments. Your card details are entered on the payment page and handled by the payment provider: we never see them and never store them.
We keep a record of what was bought, when, the amount, and the order or subscription it belongs to, so we can give you the access you paid for and answer questions about a charge.
Account emails cover verification, invitations, password resets and receipts. If you have notes due for review, Mindling can also email you a reminder.
Base44 runs the parts of Mindling that are not its own pages: hosting, the database, sign-in, file storage and the AI calls. Base44 Payments handles payments. Google is involved only if you connect your calendar.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use your notes to advertise to you.
Your notes and study packs stay until you delete them or delete your account. You can delete your account from Settings; your notes, packs and everything else in your workspace are then removed.
We keep purchase records for as long as we need them for accounting and tax, and we keep anything we are legally required to keep. Anything else is deleted with your account.
Records in Mindling are restricted to the account that owns them, so your notes are not readable by another customer. No system is perfectly secure, so keep your sign-in details to yourself and tell us if you think someone else has reached your account.
Mindling is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly create accounts for them. If you believe a child has an account, tell us and we will remove it.
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and we will say so in the app.
Questions about your data, or a request to see or delete it, can be raised through mindlingnotes.com.
